Production Operations Function
The purpose of this assignment is to have you explore the operations function of an existing production or service organization that you are familiar with. On completion, you should understand how a service or product is generated and delivered to the customer from the operations management point of view. The project needs to be in a presentation format with up to 9 slides and contain the following tasks/details:
1. Document current operations. Using visual and verbal explanations, you should explain the operations activities for the firm. Specifically, the various inputs, transformation processes, and several outputs must be identified.
2. Briefly discuss how some of the following activities are performed in the selected company.
Forecasting
Capacity planning
Project management
Facility location and layout planning
Quality management and/or quality control.
Inventory management
3. Identify at least one operating need or problem in the firm, describe the problem as you best understand it, and suggest one or more tentative solutions to the problem. Your solution approach can be conceptual, but you need to provide details.
