Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to take a look at God’s Word as it pertains to food, eating, and our cultural view of food.

Instructions

Write a two- to three- page, double-spaced essay, APA format, and integrate biblical references within the talking points.

Talking points:

  • What truths from Scripture can be applied to the topic of nutrition (i.e. guidance for nourishing our physical bodies)?,
  • What about our culture and/or society?,
    • In what way do these passages of Scripture address our culture’s view of food?,
    • What about our society’s view of food (i.e. gratification lack of discipline etc.).,
  • Discuss the personal meaning of these passages of Scripture to your own personal view of nutrition and current eating habits.,

 

Scripture: 

(After reading these passages, you may select other Scriptures if desired.)

  • Romans 12:1–2
  • 1 Corinthians 10:31
  • 1 John 2:16–17a
  • Revelation 18
  • Proverbs 22:1–12
  • Proverbs 23:19–21
  • Ecclesiastes 5:18–20

 

In your written paper, please refer to at least five (5) passages of Scripture with at least one (1) passage per primary talking point.  Note: not all Scripture passages address each of the talking points individually.  Also, please do not simply discuss each Scripture passage.  The three primary talking points should guide the discussion of your paper.  Include a “Works Cited” at the end.  This must cite the Bible in APA format with at least one (1) other scholarly citation.  Other than the Bible, sources cited must have been published within the last five years.  Other acceptable sources include the textbook, websites, and peer-reviewed journals.
