Instrument and Metrics for QI Plan

Overview

The purpose of this assignment is to explore and select tools and outcomes measures that can be used in a QI project. In the previous Gap Analysis assignment, each group developed a needs assessment for their assigned case scenario.  For the Instrument and Metric for QI Plan Assignment, you will continue to build upon this work by selecting a psychosocial tool and discussing methodology to measure outcomes.

1. Select a psychosocial measurement tool

Using the information your group developed from the previous Gap Analysis assignment select a psychosocial tool that can be used for measurement in your QI project.,

If you are in the Children’s Hospital group you may not use HCAHPS survey as your tool., The tool should be a questionnaire or survey that can be administered to participants.

Remember, “Psychosocial measures are instruments that researchers and advanced practice

registered nurses use to measure variables related to psychological, emotional, behavioral, and related areas in a study” (Murphy et al., 2021).

2. Find an article about the tool’s reliability & validity

Perform a literature search to identify an article that discusses reliability and validity of the specific tool you selected.

Note: You may need to find multiple articles.

Articles for reliability and validity may be older than 5 years. Many times this information comes from when the tool was developed.
