Systems and Application Software Configurations

Unit 3 Assignment:

Purpose

You are in the role of a cybersecurity manager and are a new hire for a medium-sized global organization (500 people) that manufactures components for autonomous automobile vendors. The organization also has one government contract. You have received the go ahead from upper management to kick off a data security project. The goal of the project is to understand where all the critical and confidential data and data systems are located, describe the types of possible threats targeting the critical and confidential data, determine why the threats exist, and determine why the enterprise systems may be vulnerable to cyberattack and where vulnerabilities may lie.

You are going to write a paper describing the overarching goal of the project that includes at least three examples so that the project manager can get a clear understanding of the goals.

Assignment Scenario:

By conducting research, select three types of enterprise systems, including at least one that operates in the cloud. All systems store some confidential data in their data store.

System 1: Stores confidential information in a relational database system like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle DBMS that resides on premise.

System 2: Stores confidential information in the cloud using a NoSQL (Not Only SQL) database technology like Mondo DB or Apache Cassandra. Systems and Application Software Configurations

System 3: Stores big data in a big data database (like AWS Dynamo DB or Azure Cosmos DB), hybrid on premise/cloud and overseas.

All systems are accessible using a browser, and each enterprise system has a mobile application that can be used to access data from the enterprise system.

Assignment Instructions:

Create a header for each system. Under the header for each system:

  1. Describe vulnerabilities and threats that specifically target confidentiality on the data-driven system and its associated infrastructure., While some threats might apply to all of the systems, describe one threat that is more likely for each scenario and consider the different security issues for each type of database (e.g. a NoSQL database distributes data across many servers)., Consider and discuss at least one of the following for each system: Systems and Application Software Configurations,
    1. Built-in Protection
    2. Authorization and Authentication
    3. Encryption
    4. SQL Injection
  2. Determine why the threats you describe exist and determine at least two data/database vulnerabilities in each of the systems.,
  3. Determine one known malicious software that could confiscate confidential information from the database system and scenario,

Assignment Requirements:

  • 3–4 pages of content (exclusive of title page, etc.), double-spaced in 12pt Times New Roman font, using correct APA formatting and including a title page, table of contents, abstract, and reference page(s).

Virtual Field Trip

Narrative: Construct at least a 1 ½ – 2-page that explains your use of a virtual field trip to enhance your social studies curriculum at your school.

Virtual Field Trip

Learning ObjectiveVIII. Science, Technology, and Society. Modern life as we know it would be impossible without technology and the science that supports it. What can we learn from the past about how technologies result in broader social change, some of which is unanticipated? How can we cope with the ever-increasing pace of change? How can we manage technology so that the greatest number of people benefit from it?

Assessment: Funding is challenging. Many schools are doing away with field trips as a result. Yet there are so many great virtual field trips for your students. Share at least one that you either already use, or research one you would like to use. See examples below.

Peer Reviewed Trade Research

Research Paper: This is a graduate course and students will be expected to research and write papers summarizing in their own words what they have found on current topics from the weekly readings. Research is a theoretical review of relevant literature and application of findings in the literature to a topic related to a specific industry, field, or business problem.

Peer Reviewed Trade Research

The research must be conducted using peer-reviewed trade or academic journals. While Blogs, Wikipedia, encyclopedias, course textbooks, popular magazines, newspaper articles, online websites, etc. are helpful for providing background information, these resources are NOT suitable resources for this research assignment.

Please Note: The UC Library staff are very helpful with assisting students in using the UC Online Library journal database. Please contact them if you have issues. In addition, the instructor has provided additional resources, including a research tutorial, in the “Course Resources” folder in the “Content” area of the course. Peer Reviewed Trade Research

Assignment Requirements:

  1. Choose a research topic from the chapter readings or from the list provided by your professor.
  2. Research/find a minimum at least four (4), preferably five (5) or more, different peer-reviewed articles on your topic from the University of the Cumberlands Library online business database. The article(s) must be relevant and from a peer-reviewed source. While you may use relevant articles from any time frame, current/published within the last five (5) years are preferred. Using literature that is irrelevant or unrelated to the chosen topic will result in a point reduction.
  3. Write a four (4) to five (5) page double spaced paper in APA format discussing the findings on your specific topic in your own words. Note – paper length does not include cover page, abstract, or references page(s).
  4. Structure your paper as follows:
    1. Cover page Peer Reviewed Trade Research
    2. Overview describing the importance of the research topic to current business and professional practice in your own words.,
    3. Purpose of Research should reflect  the potential benefit of the topic to the current business and professional practice and the larger body of research.,
    4. Review of the Literature summarized in your own words. Note that this should not be a “copy and paste” of literature content nor should this section be substantially filled with direct quotes from the article. A literature review is a summary of the major points and findings of each of the selected articles (with appropriate citations)., Direct quotations should be used sparingly. Normally this will be the largest section of your paper (this is not a requirement just a general observation).,This section will include a review of 4-5 peer-reviewed articles.
    5. Practical Application of the literature., Describe how your findings from the relevant research literature can shape inform and improve current business and professional practice related to your chosen topic., Peer Reviewed Trade Research
    6. Conclusion in your own words
    7. References formatted according to APA style requirements

Grading Criteria:

  • Content Knowledge & Structure (25 points): All of the requested components are completed as assigned; content is on topic and related to marketing management, critical thinking is clearly demonstrated (few, if any, direct quotations from the source in the paper); scholarly research is demonstrated; topics and concepts gained from the assigned reading and/or from research is evident.
  • Critical Thinking (15 points): Demonstrates substantial critical thinking about topics and solid interpretation of materials and reflection.
  • Clarity & Effective Communication (15 points): Communication is clear, concise, and well presented; scholarly writing is demonstrated; grammar, sentence structure, writing in third person, and word choice is used correctly.

The Bible/Creating Value

Apply at least one aspect of the VBM to the following discussion prompt:
Job 12:17 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you.”
Proverbs 20:21 “An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning will not be blessed in the end.”
Jesus was the Master at understanding the wants and needs of those around him. He was also skilled at and unafraid to ask questions, although he had an advantage in that He already knew the answer. We do not have that power or privilege, so we need to ask because we need to know. Everyone needed Jesus but not everyone wanted Jesus. He spoke about that in his ministry, saying “If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave” (Matthew 10:14). Jesus was pained by those who rebuked him but He knew it was inevitable that not everyone would be saved. He still cared for them, but he invested His time where He could make a difference.

The Bible/Creating Value
The Bible/Creating Value

Likewise, we must understand the pains and joys of our customers, not at the core level of our being that Jesus reached, but we still need to know our customers- where they came from, where they are, and where they want to go. If someone is not interested in our offering, we should move on to a more willing prospect. To find out what they need and if they are interested, we need to ask. The more we understand who is willing, and why, and at what price, the better we can focus our offering and fill a need or want. We should not assume that we can create a marketing plan without solid research and understanding of our target market. Proverbs is a wonderful book filled with wisdom about business, we only need to be open to how those lines of truth apply today as they did thousands of years ago.
Does the Bible talk about business and about marketing? Absolutely! Marketing is about knowing people and understanding their wants and needs, and then building a relationship with those who want or need your offering now or in the future.

The Bible/Creating Value

Question Prompts:
How do these verses connect with the concept of marketing creating value?
Is that value for the seller or buyer or both and why?
How does one’s background and/or personal experience affect the ability to understand the wants and needs throughout the population? Use APA referencing style.
