Social Loafing. Brian, a class colleague, is someone who counts on the group’s high achievers to do the majority of the work. This behavior is known as social loafing. Social loafers thrive because they know the high achievers cannot do less than their best; that is precisely what makes them high achievers. Adding to the problem, if it is the group product that is evaluated rather than individual contributions—then Brian will be less motivated to participate. That is why social loafing is rampant in university classrooms where grades are based on the finished group product. For this Discussion, you examine methods to motivate social loafers.

CLC Group Project Plan. As a culminating project, this assignment has two parts: a project plan created in either MS Project (PC) or Apple Merlin (MAC) due in Topic 7 and an executive summary due in Topic 8. Those experiencing problems with Project software may complete this portion of the assignment in Excel. Use prior course information and data gathered for your CLC Business Plan to complete this assignment. Examine the business plan you created with your CLC group and determine the distinct goals, timelines, and resources necessary to put the plan into effect. The steps required for the implementation of the business plan are referred to as a project plan. The business plan is a CHP for a mobile breast cancer screening station or Mammo-van. Write a project plan in Microsoft Project or Apple Merlin. Excel may be substituted as needed. In your project plan: Identify the tasks needed to complete the project.

CLC Group Project Plan

CLC Group Project Plan. Develop a completion schedule. Assign resources to project tasks. Be creative. For example: If your plan calls for three nurses, you will need to plan for hiring and training. Create realistic timelines for each activity. They could be very general (2 weeks to hire, 2 weeks to train) or they could dive much deeper (1 week to write hiring ad, 1 week to place the ad, 2 weeks to accept applications, 1 week to review, 3 weeks for interviews, 1 week for offer letters, 2 weeks to establish in the HR system, etc.). Complete these steps for each major component of the business plan. Your project plan should be specific, detailed, and thorough. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. American History. Answer three out of the six questions presented below. Each answer should be a minimum of 250 words, single spaced. Examine the restrictions placed on freedom during World War I. Be sure to analyze Debs’ Speech to the Jury (Reading 133) and Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes’ opinion (Reading 134), the role of the Committee on Public Information (the Creel Committee) and define and provide examples of “coercive patriotism.” After World War I and more than 20 years of reform, Americans became much more conservative in the 1920s. In fact, Reinhold Niebuhr stated that America was “rapidly becoming the most conservative nation on earth.” Give examples that defend this perception of America as conservative in the 1920s. American History

The 1920s presents a time when an entire nation was grappling with massive technological and social change. Americans spent the decade seeking to adapt to the rise of mass production, mass culture, and a metropolitan world that had emerged seemingly overnight. Discuss the decade in these terms, describing the many ways in which Americans sought to deal with this change. How did the New Deal transform the relationship between the federal government and American citizens? Eric Foner wrote, “The language with which World War II was fought helped to lay the foundation for postwar ideals of human rights that extend to all mankind. American History Do you agree with this statement? Why or why not? Americans have tended to remember World War II as the “Good War”—a conflict in which the United States represented and fought for a good cause, in which Americans fought a good fight with honorable means, and which brought about more freedom for Americans at home and nations abroad. Evaluate this public memory—what truth is there to this characterization, and what does this memory neglect or ignore? American History

America’s Founding Period. There is disagreement over America’s founding period, that is, whether it provides fodder for the “consensus” or the “conflict” view of American history. What sorts of conflicts were occurring at the time? Were they essential, deep-rooted antagonisms or simple disagreements resting on a more fundamental base of shared values about society and politics? Using the links listed below, find one relevant site. Then use the opinions expressed in that site and the es.say by Roche on the Constitution to discuss an issue that deals with the Revolutionary period in terms relevant to this topic. APA Format

Community Service Partnership

Retailers are becoming increasingly aware of how charitable contributions to local communities and non-profit organizations can impact customer buy-in and loyalty to the company. The general manager at your work has asked you to research a possible community service opportunity for this class or your workplace. Some examples include reading to children at a school, sponsoring a blood drive with the Red Cross, or a local wildlife cleaning event. APA Format

Community Service Partnership

Your task is to write a three-paragraph (minimum) memo addressed to the general manager and team leads at your store that recommends one charitable organization you wish to partner or volunteer with that you found via a web search. This memo will briefly discuss the rational /benefits of partnering with a non-profit, explain your recommendation for a non-profit foundation found during your research, and propose a date for a meeting with the charitable organization. Community Service Partnership

How many non-profit or charitable organizations are in your city? How many non-profit or charitable organizations are within a 5, 10, 15, and 20 mile radius from your city? Find the two best rated non-profit or charitable organizations within a 5, 10, 15, and 20 mile radius of your city. After searching and collecting the information for these questions, you will analyze this data to decide which charitable organizations would be the best matches to further explore. Use the chart linked below to compare your data from Question 3.  You should list different charities or non-profits for each of the radius distances.  You’ll rank the charities, provide their names and answer the following two questions: 1) What is the organization’s mission and what do they do? 2) How does this match your school or company’s goals?

After you decide on one organization that best aligns with the goals and mission of your company (or school), write a memo or email message analyzing your findings.  Your memo or email message should be a minimum of three paragraphs. Make it clear in this memo which organization is your first recommendation that you wish to partner with and propose a date for a meeting with the organization. This memo should briefly discuss the rationale/benefits of partnering with a non-profit, explain your recommendation for a non-profit foundation found during your research, and propose a date for a meeting with the charitable organization.
