Chinese history.

This essay is supposed to be 6-8 pages (double spaced) and it’s for a class about Chinese history. We can consult scholarly works – monographs and/or scholarly journal article – and integrate them into a coherent, argument-driven paper.

My idea: I want to delve into the three principles and exploring the kind of China, government, and Chinese people Sun Yat-sen envisioned.

Texts that my teacher wants me to consider:

· Sun Yat-sen’s lectures on the “Three People’s principles”

· “The Four Powers of the People (1924)” by Sun Yat sen

· “The Principle of Democracy” (1924) – also by Sun Yat sen

Chinese history.

Pointers and guidance given by my teacher:,

Consider addressing nationalism (first principle) in relation to Sun’s anti-Manchu ideology and his later advocacy for self-determination for the Chinese people as a whole.,

· The second principle “democracy” – Sun Yat-sen’s interpretation of democracy differs from the Western perspective.,

· He defined it as the Chinese people’s control over their government and nation.,

· The principle of “people’s livelihood” also appears to be less clearly defined.,

· In summary, Sun seems to envision popular sovereignty with responsible citizens governing the nation, in contrast to the Western concern about an overly powerful government.

Logical Reasoning

PHI2604

Chapter three Study Guide

This study guide is a map to help you prepare for the exam and does not include everything we covered in class or from the reading.

Arguments –passages that present reasons for a claim; or a claim defended with reasons. Arguments are comprised of one or more premises and a conclusion. So, an argument is a group of statements or premises that are offered in support of the conclusion.

Premises are statements in an argument offered as evidence or reasons for accepting another statement, the conclusion.

The conclusion is the statement in an argument that the premises are intended to prove or support.

statement is a sentence that can be viewed as either true or false. For a statement to function as a premise it must make a claim. Commands, reports, rhetorical questions, illustrations, and explanations are not premises.

The Principle of Charity

Deductive Argument—an argument form in which one reasons from premises that are known or assumed to be true to a conclusion that follows necessarily from these premises. Deductive arguments often begin with a general claim and proceed to specific claims: ‘All men are mortal. Socrates is a man. Therefore, Socrates is mortal. If one accepts the premises then one must accept the conclusion. [Don’t forget that in the spirit of Socrates we can always reject a premise and call for a definition and challenge a definition with a counterexample.]

Inductive Argument—an argument form in which one reasons from premises that are known or assumed to be true to a conclusion that is supported by the premises but does not necessarily follow from them. Premises are provided as evidence in support of the conclusion, that is premises are intended to make the conclusion more probable. [ causal reasoning and empirical generalizations in inductive argumentation]

Empirical Generalization (in inductive reasoning), reasoning from a limited sample to a general conclusion (the opposite of deductive argumentation), that is reasoning from a limited sample to a general conclusion based on this sample.

Causal Reasoning, a form of inductive reasoning in which an event (or events) is claimed to be the result (the cause) of another event (or events). [re: This type of reasoning was challenged by the skepticism of David Hume, e.g., light switch example I gave you. For causal reasoning to work it must follow strict guidelines as in the scientific method.]

The Scientific Method, holds that world is a complex web of causal relationships that can be discovered through systematic investigation. The five steps of scientific method include: 1. Identify an event or a relationship between events to be investigated 2. Gather information about the event (or events) 3. Develop a hypothesis or theory to explain what is happening 4. Test the hypothesis or theory through experimentation 5. Evaluate the hypothesis or theory based on experimental results

Hypothesis, a possible explanation that is introduced to account for a set of facts that can be used as a basis for further investigation.

Logical Reasoning

Logical Fallacies: Mistakes in reasoning (purposefully committed and are rhetorical devices, or simply incorrectreasoning)

–Either/or, a.k.a., false dilemma, false dichotomy, or black-or-white argument

–Argumentum ad hominem (appeal to [attacking] the person]

-Begging the question/circular reasoning

–Appeal to [false] authority

–Appeals to emotion

–Straw man argument

–red herring

–false cause

–slippery slope fallacy

–argumentum ad populum

Logical Reasoning

Write a college-level essay in which you argue your position on Euthanasia and Physician-assisted Suicide, chapter 11. You will be graded on your ability to construct a sustained argument using outside sources data the ethical theories we covered in class as well as proper usage of grammar and syntax. a.), You are required to label each part of your argument using the format for moral argumentation sheet. b.) , Use chapter eleven for definition sources and data and document source by putting “textbook p.__”. c.) ,Use at least one independent (non-textbook) source and document it. d.), Use no more than two lines of quotation for textbook or outside source(s) e.) avoid in pro-argument and point out in con-argument any logical fallacies., Zero credit for unlabeled arguments. -30 if rough draft not submitted before class on due date.

2000-wo’rd pa’per (7 to 8 pa’ges) on Gang Violence in Fresno: Causes, Impact, and Law Enforcement Response.

  • The socioeconomic factors fueling gang recruitment in Fresno.,
  • The connection between gang activity and violent crime rates.,
  • Law enforcement strategies, such as Operation No Fly Zone and gang injunctions.,
  • The effectiveness of community programs aimed at reducing gang violence.

Gang Violence in Fresno

Make sure to cover the following in your pa’per:

  • why you consider topic to be most important today include a historical perspective if necessary,
  • use various sou’rces data to support your viewpoint/argument include State and/or local data / information
  • give what you see as possible solution(s) to the problem(s),
  • utilize at least 5 different ty’pes of resou’rces (NOTE: Wikipedia is not an acceptable resou’rce),

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2,000 wo’rds of wr’iting in original student text. “2,000 wo’rds” translates into approximately 7 to 8 double-spaced ty’ped pa’ges (250-300 wo’rds per pa’ge), varying with margins and size and style of fo’nt.
  • Gang Violence in Fresno

Maximum 12pt. black color fo’nt, double spaced, with sou’rces properly documented in ML’A style formatted with one-inch margins, spell-checked, grammar checked, with “wo’rd count,” take note that ref’erence/sou’rce pa’ge and/or attachments do not count towards wo’rd count.

This Pa’per is based on the previous Rough Dr’aft Pa’per, which will be provided below with FEEDBACK.

Gang Violence in Fresno

Feedback: This is a good start. Be sure to continue citing sources throughout the paper. The topic is the crime and criminal behavior of juveniles, so it’s important to explore who these individuals are and why they are drawn into this lifestyle. Consider all influencing factors, including the criminal aspect—what crimes they commit and the reasons behind them.

Additionally, examine how laws regarding gangs have changed over time. What do law enforcement officials say about gangs? What are families’ perspectives? What do advocacy groups believe? Insights from former gang members about what is needed or what works are also valuable. Finally, discuss why gangs are considered a critical issue in relation to crime today.

The first step is reflecting on how prior implementations have
progressed and which educators are at the various stages of implementation. For
example, review the stages of implementation and then determine who is in which
carriage using the three carriage train analogy? What correlations do you see between
their response to innovation and the stage of implementation? How can that information

Literary Research Project

Reminder: Late assignments are not accepted.

Purpose: This project is intended to provide students with an opportunity to research and independently explore the life and literature of a specific author.

Literary Research Project

Assignment: After signing up for one of the authors listed on the Literary Research Project sign-up sheet, create a presentation on the author you have selected. The presentation will include biographical information along with an analysis of one work by this author. This presentation will be included in the Literary Research Project Timeline which is located in the Discussions menu folder. Each presentation will be placed within a designated discussion thread.

Process: Follow these steps:

1–Select and sign up for one of the authors and specific work presented in the Literary Research Project Sign up list located inside of the Discussions menu folder (first item). Follow the directions given in this discussion forum.,

2–Research and prepare the presentation. The following are required elements that need to appear in your presentation (in this order):,

  1. Present a brief biographical summary of the writer’s life (1-2 slides)—(Be sure to cite sources used for this information on the slide,
  2. Give a synopsis (brief summary) of the literary work you have chosen to analyze (1-2 slides). The literary work or excerpt MUST be one that is included in our Norton Anthology of World Literature volumes 1 or 2.,
  3. Analyze the literary work. This portion of the project may consider ONE of the following ideas (3-4 slides).,

Literary Research Project

–analyze how the writer uses a concept or theme that is prevalent during the time period. For example, if the work is from the romantic era, you might analyze the author’s incorporation of one or two characteristics of romanticism.

–analyze the author’s use of a particular literary or rhetorical device in the work. For example, you might analyze the author’s use of metaphor, irony, or another device.

–analyze the structure of the work and how the structure helps the author convey meaning.

NOTE: Develop the analysis thoroughly. The analysis is not simply pointing to some aspect of the literary work. An analysis deconstructs the literary work with a focus on the specific element being explored and discusses where in the work and how the writer develops this element of the piece of literature. These ideas are supported by using specific examples from the literary work you have chosen.

  1. Include parenthetical in-text citations for any/all sources used in each slide presented. (Citations appear on every slide if sources are used in every slide.) NOTE: Not citing is plagiarism and will be counted as such.
  2. End the presentation with one slide that briefly assesses what this work or this author offers modern readers. Your assessment might answer one of these questions (1 slide):
  • What would a modern reader enjoy about this author’s ideas or the work you analyzed?
  • How might the author’s ideas be influential in society today?
  • What ideas do modern readers need to learn from this author?

Please note that each of these elements is required and is part of the grade for this assignment. Missing or underdeveloped elements of this assignment will result in points being deducted.

Create Your Presentation: You are encouraged to be creative in your presentation. You may use PowerPoint or a Prezi. Follow the suggested number of slides listed above for each section of the presentation.

Use MLA Style for Documentation: All presentations will need to include both of these:

* in-text citations placed on each slide in which research is used

* a separate slide at the end of the presentation that provides a list of Works Cited. This list will include documentation for all of the sources used to prepare and develop the presentation. The Works Cited list must follow MLA style documentation for each resource entry. The entries should also include documentation for the literary work analyzed in the presentation. Here is an example of how to document one of the works from our textbook. Note that it is double spaced and uses a hanging indent.

In your role as controller of a division of Trans Global Airlines, you are responsible for assessing the possible acquisition of the two identified small airlines in the Caribbean specializing in chartered flights for luxury vacations using light aircraft (60 passengers or less).

Trans Global Airlines

One of the important steps in this acquisition process is analyzing, understanding, and identifying all the external and internal elements that can affect the organization’s performance, and, as businesses are greatly influenced by their environment, all the situational factors that determine how day-to-day circumstances impact firms. You can assess situational factors by performing a business environment analysis. The analysis entails assessing the level of threat or opportunity these situational factors might present. These evaluations are later translated into the decision-making process. The analysis helps align strategies with the firm’s environment. You will use the PESTEL method to perform this analysis.

Trans Global Airlines

Prompt

Use the information provided to you in the TransGlobal Airlines Information document to perform a business environment analysis using the PESTEL method. Your task is to analyze the internal and external business environment of TransGlobal Airlines by identifying the impact of each PESTEL factor on the business environment.
