ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
As the title suggests, in this assignment you will produce an annotated bibliography. Please note that I am
expecting an analytical annotated bibliography, rather than just a descriptive one.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
1) identify the research question you propose to investigate
2) list 20 pieces of scholarly works (books or articles) that have addressed that question. Please provide
full references for each work.
3) for ten works carry out an analytical annotation. This consists of writing a paragraph that identifies:

- A) What is the research question the author(s) is addressing?;
- B) What is their method for answering that question?
- C) What are the strengths and/or limitations of that methodological approach?
- D) What did the author(s) find?
- E) What conclusion did they draw based on their findings? In other words, what are they arguing?
- F) How reasonable is their argument? For instance, is aligned with the findings? Or does it generalise beyond the findings?
- G) What contribution does this scholarly work make to the discussion about your research question?;
- H) How will you use this work to advance your project?

ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES
The assignment’s first objective is to give you an opportunity to start thinking about and finding scholarly works related to your research question.
The second objective is to give you an opportunity to produce analytical annotations for a small number of scholarly works, which will help you engage more deeply with relevant works.
The third objective is to give you raw materials that you will be able to draw from when you write your literature review at the end of the semester.
