Business/Finance Managerial Economics

Please review and answer the following question in a 2–3-page word document:

In 1997, after spending more than one-half billion dollars in development and after extensive test marketing, Procter & Gamble in partnership with Frito-Lay and Nabisco launched a series of snack food products made with Olestra, a “no fat” substitute. The campaign launch promised that consumers would enjoy the same flavor of potato chips or crackers, but with zero fat. Although touted as a miracle product, Olestra faced a number of uncertainties: ultimate consumer demand, willingness to pay, and pricing; product cost, quality, and shelf life; regulatory approval; and most important, medical side effects (stomach cramps and the ugly specter of diarrhea in some consumers).

At one point in the book, Hazel states, “Cancer books suck.” What is she really meaning?

Behavior Management Case Study

For this case study, you’re going to create an imaginary work team. It must be a work team (not a book club, academic group or amateur sports team – professional sports team is ok). You might consider a team that is working to integrate a new acquisition, create a new product, open up a new market, set a strategic plan or another significant business activity. You can decide whether they’re successful or not, just make sure you’re using examples to justify (like don’t tell me your group is successful, without using research from the learnings about successful groups). In a paper of 3.5-ish pages, tell me about the following:

Behavior Management Case Study

Behavior Management Case Study

1. What kind of company does your group work for – what does it do, profit or non-profit, domestic or international, who are its customers, where is the company located and anything else you think is relevant.

2. What is your group working on? What does success look like, how will they measure performance, what’s the time frame, how will they know when they’re done?

3. Who are the members of your group? How many of them – why did you choose that number? What are their skills and expertise – talk about surface and deep diversity for each member.

4. What does the team building process look like – use examples.

5. What is the role of each member and why?

6. How will the team make decisions? Is there a leader? Who is it and why?

7. What are the team norms and values?

8. How will the team communicate?

9. What challenges might the team face and how will they solve them?

10. Do you predict they will be successful or not? Why?

Formatting:

· Use APA or MLA format (whichever you’re most familiar with)

· Make sure you include an introduction and conclusion.

Behavior Management Case Study

3.5-ish page double spaced paper. 4.75 pages is fine, so is 5.75. 10 pages is not ok; neither is 3. Cover pages and references don’t count as part of the requirement.

· 12-point font, normal margins, no extra spaces between paragraphs to make it look longer, blah blah blah…

· If you work with someone else, you should turn in a single document that flows like one paper. Please don’t turn in two 2.5-page papers that you stuck together five minutes before the deadline. Make sure both names are on the paper.

· Upload a word.doc. Please don’t send me a google.doc because half the time I can’t open them, and it makes me grumpy.

· Papers will be checked for plagiarism and AI generation. Use APA referencing style.

Business/Finance Behavior Management
Case Study Unit 4 – Negotiating, Power & Politics

Choose a famous business conflict. It could be one you’re familiar with or you may choose something “new to you”. It can be a conflict that has been resolved or is ongoing. Ensure the conflict you choose has enough depth and information for a thorough analysis. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
Steve Jobs vs Steve Wozniak
Elon Musk vs the Tesla Board
Bill Gates vs. Paul Allen
Sheryl Sandberg vs. Facebook (Meta) Board
Michael Eisner vs. Roy E. Disney
Mark Zuckerberg vs. take your pick

Business/Finance Behavior Management
2. Provide a detailed yet concise overview of the conflict. Include the key players, core issues, timeline, consequences (both positive and negative), and current status of the conflict. Who is/was “fighting”; what are/were they fighting about; how long has/had it been going on; what are/were the consequences; is the conflict over or is it still going?

Business/Finance Behavior Management

3. Identify the types of power each party wielded and provide examples.

4. Identify the political tactics used and provide examples.

5. Using all of your resources (I’ve given you a TON this week in the supplemental material, but feel free to dig up more – make sure you’re using citations appropriately) analyze the conflict. Assess whether the conflict is healthy or unhealthy. Discuss the strategies used by both parties, such as collaboration, avoidance, competition, etc.

6. Finally, tell me how you would fix it based on what you have learned. Don’t tell me you’re going to sit them in a room together to hash it out – that NEVER works – people say they’re fine, and I promise, they’re not – nothing changes, except now they’re just subversive with their conflict…

Business/Finance Behavior Management

Clearly define the role you will take in resolving the conflict (outsider looking in, consultant brought in, Chairman of the Board, largest shareholder, Venture Capitalist brought in to take over).
Specify the leadership style(s) you will use
Detail the influence tactics you will employ, such as rational persuasion, inspirational appeals, or consultation.
Provide a step-by-step plan for resolution. If using a coach, specify their role, expertise, and the strategies they will employ, and final outcome.
Consider legal, ethical, and practical implications of your actions (including firing or other drastic measures).
You must come up with a legitimate plan – not “I’m tired of the bs, I’m shutting it down and moving to Costa Rica”, though I’m sure many would prefer to do that…

HRM Motivational Interviewing

The Spirit of Motivational Interviewing
There is an old adage that “practice makes perfect,” which is particularly relevant to learning a new set of skills like those associated with motivational interviewing. Over the next several weeks, the Assignments are designed to give you opportunities to practice specific motivational interviewing skills that are introduced in the Discussions. In this week’s Discussion, you practiced applying the spirit of motivational interviewing to a service user in the case study to which you were assigned. As you may remember, the spirit of motivational interviewing is a heart-set and mindset that encompasses four elements that are crucial for building a relationship with a service user: partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation (Miller & Rollnick, 2023). In this Assignment, you will review a series of practitioner statements to determine whether the statements reflect the spirit of motivational interviewing. Reference: Miller, W. R., & Rollnick, S. (2023). Motivational interviewing: Helping people change (4th ed.). The Guilford Press.

The textbook, Politics of the Administrative Process, Chapter 1 Accountability and Politics, explains governmental policies and the decisions that policymakers make to ensure that they are consistent and effective.

Before a policy can be created, a problem must exist that is called to the attention of the government. Illegal immigration, for example, has been going on for many years, but it was not until the 1990s that enough people considered it such a serious problem that it required increased government action. Another example is crime. American society tolerates a certain level of crime; however, when crime rises dramatically or is perceived to be rising dramatically, it becomes an issue for policymakers to address.

Consistent and effective policies at the federal level are critical to the success of government and nonprofit organizations. What factors determine a successful vs. ineffective public policy?
