Assignment 3: Strategy Presentation

Introduction

“In order for strategy to be effective, it has to be clearly communicated.

Everybody in the organization has to understand why we are doing what we’re doing,

and what they need to do in order to execute the strategy.”

Strategy Presentation

– Jack Welch –

Time to Shine! You’ve done the hard work to evaluate the playing field and competition. You’ve looked

at seven potential strategic moves and assessed the pros and cons of each. Finally, you have arrived at

the game-winning move that can help your company beat competitors, generate significant shareholder

value and create a sustainable competitive advantage. All you need now is a “yes” from your CEO!

You know that one of the most important skills leaders must develop is the ability to sell their ideas. They

need to understand their audience, craft their presentation appropriately, have poise, and communicate

clearly. They also need to show their passion and demonstrate executive presence!

Strategy Presentation

You know your CEO’s time is valuable and you have only five minutes to “sell” your game-winning move

and explain the key rationale. You will synthesize your previous executive briefs to create a succinct,

well-organized presentation based on Jack’s 5 slides and then present these during your five-minute slot.

The presentation is focused on selling the move and your rationale – and this probably means that some

of the slides are going to be more important than others. Your CEO wants you to touch on each slide

during the 5-minute presentation but doesn’t mind if you spend only a brief amount of time on some slides

and more time on others.

You have a great game-winning move. You have been perfecting your executive presence. You have

confidence. You are ready to impress!

Instructions

Strategy Presentation

  1. Distill the work you have done in Assignments 1 and 2 to create a 5-slide strategy deck. This is

explained in Chapter 11 of Winning and is also included in summary form below.

Be aware that information needed for some of Jack’s questions would be available to a

company’s strategy team leader but may not be in the public domain for our use. Therefore, your

content in each slide will primarily be derived from your research for your first two assignments.

This may mean that you focus on answering some of Jack’s questions, but perhaps not all of

them.

  1. You should approach your presentation from a senior executive perspective, with your intended

audience being the CEO of the company. Your presentation should be both informative and

inspirational. Your goal is to persuade the CEO to support your strategic plan.

  1. You should assume that the CEO has already read your two executive briefs. However, you are

unsure whether there is support or skepticism for of your game-winning move. Thus, you need to

focus on “selling your strategy” and not just regurgitating your first two assignments. Your CEO

will be compelled by an enthusiastic presentation that explains why your game-winning move is

the right one, but that also presents a balanced, cogent understanding of the risks involved.

  1. Your presentation should have a professional look and feel. It should demonstrate your executive

presence through professional dress, eye contact, clear and confident speech and body language.

Think about Jack’s “4 E’s + 1 P” as you prepare, and use this as a guide for your delivery.

Formatting and Submission Requirements

Strategy Presentation

  • Record your presentation using Zoom This will allow you to record your use of a PPT deck and

webcam at the same time. Recording instructions and samples: https://www.kaltura.com/tiny/xgw5h

  • Keep your presentation within a 4- to 6-minute timeframe.
  • You may only present slides from Jack’s 5-slide methodology, and you must present all 5 slides.

However, you are not required to allocate your time equally on to each of the 5 slides. Instead,

spend your time on the slides that best enable you to convincingly sell your game-winning move.

There are many tactics that allow you to briefly cover a slide that is not essential to sell your

move. An example is to quickly flash the competition slide while noting, “You are well aware that

our two key competitors are Ford and GM, and I shared their recent moves in the executive brief,

so I’d instead like to advance to the Our Organization slide”.

  • Submit your Zoom video in mp4 format only. Note: Zoom offers several formats, so make sure you save

to your computer and then upload only the mp4 formatted version.

  • You do not need to submit a separate PPT file for grading because each slide should be visible in your

Zoom video.

5-Slide MethodologyQuestions

Slide questions are not set in stone. Focus your content on the most important and relevant questions for

your company and industry. You are not expected to incorporate every bullet under each slide as part of

your five-slide presentation. Instead, choose the most compelling elements that help you tell the most

persuasive story.

Strategy Presentation

Slide 1: What the Playing Field Looks Like Now

  • Who are the competitors in this business large and small new and old?,
  • Who has what share globally and in each market? Where do we fit in?,
  • What are the characteristics of this business? Is it a commodity high value or somewhere in

between? Is it long cycle or short?, Where is it on the growth curve? What are the drivers of

profitability?,

  • What are the strengths and weaknesses of each competitor? How good are its products?,

How much does each spend on R&D? How big is each sales force? How performance-driven

is each culture?,

  • Who are this business’s main customers, and how do they buy?,

Slide 2: What the Competition Has Been Up To,

  • What has each competitor done in the past year to change the playing field?,
  • Has anyone introduced game-changing new products new technologies or new distribution

channels?,

  • Are there any new entrants, and if so, what have they been up to in the past year?

Slide 3: What You’ve Been Up To

  • What have you done in the past year to change the competitive playing field?
  • Have you bought a company, introduced a new product, stolen a competitor’s key

salesperson, or licensed a new technology from a startup?

  • Have you lost any competitive advantages that you once had – a great salesperson, a special

product, a proprietary technology?

Slide 4: What’s Around the Corner?

  • What scares you most in the year ahead – what are one or two things a competitor could do to

nailyou?

  • What new products or technologies could your competitors launch that might change the

game?

  • What M&A deals made by a competitor would knock you off your feet?

Slide 5: What’s Your Winning Move?

  • What can you do to change the playing field – is it an acquisition, a new product, globalization?
  • What can you do to make customers stick with you more than ever before and be more loyal

to you than to anyone else?

Strategy Presentation

  • Persuasively and logically present your “winning move”

One way that “Unconditional Positive Regard” can be viewed is that counselors accept clients’ behavior and decisions, no matter what – even if they disagree with them. How does a counselor show unconditional positive regard while still maintaining ethical standards, particularly in regards to mandated reporting? 200 words

Unconditional Positive Regard

Unconditional positive regard (UPR), a concept introduced by Carl Rogers, means that counselors accept and respect clients without judgment, regardless of their behaviors or decisions. However, maintaining UPR while adhering to ethical standards, particularly mandated reporting laws, requires a delicate balance. Counselors must create a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients while also upholding legal and ethical obligations to protect individuals from harm.

Unconditional Positive Regard

One way to achieve this balance is through transparency. At the beginning of therapy, counselors should inform clients about confidentiality limits, including the duty to report abuse, neglect, or harm to self or others. This sets clear expectations while reinforcing the counselor’s role as a supportive and ethical professional.

When mandated reporting becomes necessary, counselors can still demonstrate UPR by showing empathy and validation. Instead of expressing disapproval, they can acknowledge the client’s experiences and emotions while explaining the legal and ethical necessity of reporting. Using compassionate language, they can reassure clients that the report is meant to ensure safety rather than punishment.

Ultimately, unconditional positive regard does not mean agreeing with harmful behaviors but rather valuing the individual while upholding professional responsibility. Ethical integrity and genuine care can coexist when counselors communicate with honesty, empathy, and respect.

Protected Health Information (PHI): Privacy, Security, and Confidentiality Best Practices

Introduction

Health care providers today must develop their skills in mitigating risks to their patients and themselves related to patient information. At the same time, they need to be able distinguish between effective and ineffective uses of social media in health care.

Protected Health Information

This assessment will require you to develop a staff update for an interprofessional team to encourage team members to protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient information.

Instructions

First, select one of the health care settings described in the following resource:

As a nurse in this setting, you are asked to create the content for a staff update. This staff update will be delivered using your organization’s internal communication platform and should be in the form of a social media post and should address one or more of these topics:

Protected Health Information

  • Social media best practices.
  • What not. to do: social media.
  • Social media risks to patient information.
  • Steps to take if a breach occurs.

This assessment is not a traditional essay. It is a staff educational update about PHI. Staff are frequently overwhelmed with required trainings and often click through without learning. To catch the attention of your audience be creative. Create a social media post that delivers the information required in an easy-to-read fashion like an infographic, or a short (under 3 minute) narrated presentation or video where you use your creativity to make the staff update fun and engaging.

Protected Health Information

The task force has asked team members assigned to the topics to include the following content in their updates in addition to content on their selected topics:

  • What is protected health information (PHI)?,
    • Be sure to include essential HIPAA information.,
  • What are privacy security and confidentiality?,
    • Describe and provide examples of privacy security and confidentiality concerns related to the use of technology in health care.,
    • Explain the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to safeguard sensitive electronic health information.,
  • What evidence relating to social media usage and PHI do interprofessional team members need to be aware of? For example:,
    • What are some examples of nurses being terminated for inappropriate social media use in the United States?,
    • What types of sanctions have health care organizations imposed on interdisciplinary team members who have violated social media policies?,
    • What have been the financial penalties assessed against health care organizations for inappropriate social media use?
    • What evidence-based strategies have health care organizations employed to prevent or reduce confidentiality, privacy, and security breaches, particularly related to social media usage?

Protected Health Information

Notes

  • Be selective about the content you choose to include. Include need-to-know Omit nice-to-knowinformation.
  • Many times, people do not read staff updates, do not read them carefully, or do not read them to the end. Ensure your staff update piques staff members’ interest, highlights key points, and is easy to read/view. Avoid overcrowding the update with too much content.
  • Also, supply a separate reference page that includes two or three peer-reviewed and one or two non-peer-reviewed resources (for a total of 3–5 resources) to support the staff update content.

I’m working on Homework #2, and I’m stuck on Identifying Stakeholders for the case study I’m analyzing. I know I need to list 20 specific stakeholders—and I’ve got some ideas, but I want to make sure I’m approaching it correctly. The assignment asks for a deep dive into the different groups involved, and I’m trying not to miss any crucial players!

Identifying Stakeholders

Here’s what I need help with:

  1. Specific Stakeholders: I need to name 20 unique stakeholders for my case but I’m having trouble thinking outside the usual groups (shareholders CEO set.). ,How can I dig deeper and find more specific individuals or groups tied to the event?
  2. Avoiding Duplication: I understand I shouldn’t list shareholders or other groups like the CEO and Board of Directors separately (since they all share the same stake). ,what if different branches of government or different departments are involved?, How should I break them down without duplicating?,
  3. Categorization: Once I’ve listed them, I need to categorize these stakeholders under two criteria:
    Identifying Stakeholders

    • Power, Urgent, Legitimate (page 77 in the book)
    • Supportive, Marginal, Non-supportive, and Mixed-Blessing (page 89 in the book)
    • I’m not entirely sure how to categorize each one, especially when some stakeholders may be on the fence or have mixed stakes. Prove that you belong in the hall of fame by playing the  Basketball Legends  game alongside other greats. For example, if a department is only mildly affected, should I list them as “Marginal,” or is there another category that fits better?

Identifying Stakeholders

  1. Stakes: For each stakeholder, I need to list 2-3 words about what they stand to gain or lose—without going into detail about the event. How do I make sure my stake descriptions are concise but still capture the essence of their involvement? I’m finding it hard to avoid being too vague.

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on how they’re approaching this! Any tips on finding unique stakeholders or categorizing them would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you’re stuck too and maybe we can help each other out.
