Annotated Bibliography Prep

Next week you will complete a literature review of peer-reviewed articles about the community health issue you have identified for your Course Capstone Project. To prepare for next week’s assignment, begin creating an annotated bibliography of at least 7 peer-reviewed articles. Include articles providing background about the problem (3-4 articles), as well as studies evaluating interventions to address the community health issue you have chosen (3-4 articles).

Literature Review Task

For your background research, reflect on these questions in your annotations:

  • What is the extent of the problem?
  • Overall, how are various determinants of health related to this community health issue (gender, race/ethnicity, geographic area, economic status, etc.)? What inequities exist? Cite common indices of health (see Table 1-1 on p. 8 of the textbook).
  • What are known risk and protective factors related to this community health issue?

For articles evaluating interventions, describe:

  • Who is the target population and in what setting?
  • What is the intervention?
  • What theories or models are used to support the intervention choice?
  • Does the theory or model seem like a valid choice? Why?
  • Was the intervention effective? Why?
  • Begin creating an annotated bibliography of at least 7 peer reviewed articles including 3 to 4 articles providing background about the problem and 3 to 4 articles evaluating interventions to address the community health issue you have chosen,

  • Reflect in your annotations on the extent of the problem determinants of health related to the issue inequities common indices of health and known risk and protective factors,

  • For intervention studies describe the target population and setting the intervention theories or models used validity of the theory or model and whether the intervention was effective and why,

  • Connect each article to your chosen community health issue explaining how it informs your understanding and what it suggests about the best interventions for your setting,

  • Format the annotated bibliography according to APA guidelines following proper paper and reference list formatting standards,
