National Health Expenditure. We have discussed the level of NHE in the United States and looked to some degree at how much money is being spent for care by various service categories such as hospitals and physicians.  Click here to view and study the NHE data for selected calendar years between 1970 and 2003 and for selected service categories (with the exception of the catch-all category of “other”) (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services [CMS], n.d.).  Answer the following questions:

Examine the trends in expenditures for the service categories presented in the table. What is the magnitude and direction of spending changes within and across each of these categories: the percentage of GDP spent on NHE and the NHE per capita. What can you say about how the price of medical care services changes? As you think about what you might say, realize that the figures have been adjusted for inflation. Also, assume that not all increases in healthcare costs are caused by increases in utilization.

National Health Expenditure

Examine the rates of growth in the service categories (except the category “other”). What trends do you see in the mix of healthcare services used by the US public? What factors might contribute to these trends?

Types of Unemployment. Here are four individuals telling you their stories of how they became unemployed. In a multi-paragraph essay, apply the theories of unemployment to explain the type of unemployment that each of these individuals is facing and explain which of these individuals qualifies for unemployment benefits:

1) Two months ago, Marcelle used to work full time in an automobile manufacturing firm. “The factory where I used to work has closed because our market contracted so much, and so I was laid off. This is happening to people all over the country-all you see in the papers is that economic growth has fallen and incomes across the country have fallen. I have been looking very hard for a new job, but have had no luck yet.”

2) Until last week, Dominic used to work full time as a hair-dresser in downtown Cincinnati. “I decided to quit my job, because I want to move to New York City.”

Types of Unemployment

3) Until last month, Francine worked part time at a ski resort. “Well, it is summer now, and so the resort is closed. I will apply again in the winter when the snow is back. I am not interested in working until then.”

4) Two months ago, Beauvoir had been working full time as a secretary. “I was a good typist, but I don’t know how to use a computer. My boss wanted to upgrade the office to computers, and so I was replaced by someone who is computer-savvy. I have been looking for another job, but it appears that I need to learn some computer skills.”

Types of Unemployment. Develop a response that includes examples and evidence to support your ideas, and which clearly communicates the required message to your audience. Organize your response in a clear and logical manner as appropriate for the genre of writing. Use well-structured sentences, audience-appropriate language, and correct conventions of standard American English.
Use APA referencing style.

Business Environment Challenges. Changing, or even stating, a company’s values can be a long and arduous process, but it often pales in comparison to the effort it takes to make sure they are honored, implemented and projected. In this assignment, you evaluate how well your chosen company from the first assignment has done in “walking the talk” and responding to a social issue.

Preparation

Review your chosen company’s mission and values statements as well as other sources that provide insight into the company’s values with regard to social responsibility. Pick two of their primary values and research how the company manifests those values. Simple examples might be the commitment to workplace diversity or ecological sustainability.

Instructions

Create a 3–5-minute (approximately 6–8 slides) PowerPoint presentation that evaluates how well the company embodies its issue-related values. Your presentation should contain detailed speaker’s notes that flesh out and support main points, ideas, or conclusions and have supporting citations. Summarize your chosen company’s Supplier Responsibility information. In your own words, explain how each aspect of your Supplier Code of Conduct is committed to ethical business practices and social responsibility. Discuss your company’s stance on each of the following areas: Empowering Workers. Labor and Human Rights. Health and Safety. The Environment. Accountability. Identify the key ways that your company’s Code of Conduct has changed since last year. Examine the manner in which your company’s Supplier Code of Conduct helps the organization operate as a socially responsible organization.

Business Environment Challenges

Business Environment Challenges. In this week’s discussion, you consider assembling a team to write a supplier code of conduct. Recommend the stakeholders roles (4–5) needed on the team and how each supports the project. Integrate at least three supporting resources from the Strayer University Library or other reputable sources. This course requires the use of Strayer Writing Standards. For assistance and information, please refer to the Strayer Writing Standards link in the left-hand menu of your course.  Check with your professor for any additional instructions. The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is. Create a presentation about the key areas, changes, and progress in a company’s supplier responsibilities and code of conduct. Use APA referencing style.

Establishing Clinical Partnerships. You will focus on developing clinical partnerships. In your text, Teaching in Nursing and the Role of the Nurse Educator, the authors examine several different types of clinical partnerships and models of clinical education.  Clinical partnerships must meet the needs of the educational institution and the clinical agency.  Colleges of nursing often compete for the same clinical slots and are dependent on effective clinical partnerships.  Sustaining good relationships are critical to providing optimal learning experiences for students. There is typically a clinical coordinator at the college and another at the clinical agency.  The nurses in these leadership positions have the primary responsibility for negotiating partnerships and determining clinical placement.

Establishing Clinical Partnerships

Put yourself in the place of one of these two individuals (academic or agency coordinator), whichever you prefer. Conduct research to better learn the roles, responsibilities, and challenges of the position.  In addition to the book, which is fairly theoretical, find articles that might direct you in a more practical way as you negotiated clinical partnerships from either position. Sources: You can use any of the posted articles and your books as references. Find at least two additional peer-reviewed nursing journal articles that relate to your area of focus. Use APA referencing style.

Remote Collaboration – Evidence-Based Care.

Instruction

Create a 5-10 minute video of yourself, as a presenter, in which you will propose an evidence-based plan to improve the outcomes for the Vila Health patient and examine how remote collaboration provided benefits or challenges to designing and delivering the care.

Introduction- As technologies and the health care industry continue to evolve, remote care, diagnosis, and collaboration are becoming increasingly more regular methods by which nurses are expected to work. Learning the ways in which evidence-based models and care can help remote work produce better outcomes will become critical for success. Additionally, understanding how to leverage EBP principles in collaboration will be important in the success of institutions delivering quality, safe, and cost-effective care. It could also lead to better job satisfaction for those engaging in remote collaboration.

Remote Collaboration - Evidence-Based Care

Professional Context- Remote care and diagnosis is a continuing and increasingly important method for nurses to help deliver care to patients to promote safety and enhance health outcomes. Understanding best EBPs and building competence in delivering nursing care to remote patients is a key competency for all nurses. Additionally, in some scenarios, while you may be delivering care in person you may be collaborating with a physician or other team members who are remote. Understanding the benefits and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration is vital to developing effective communication strategies when coordinating care. So, being proficient at communicating and working with remote health care team members is also critical to delivering quality, evidence-base care.

Senario- The Vila Health: Remote Collaboration on Evidence-Based Care simulation provide the context for this assessment.

Instruction- Before beginning this assessment, make sure you have worked through the following media:

Vila Health: Remote Collaboration on Evidence-Based Care.

Remote Collaboration – Evidence-Based Care. Evidence-based care can be a challenge in any medical situation, but particular challenges present themselves when care is being provided remotely. In order to provide quality care to patients who live in rural settings or have difficulty with transportation to a care site, health care professionals must sometimes collaborate with other professionals in different ZIP codes or even time zones. In this activity, you will observe how health care professionals collaborate remotely and virtually to provide care for a patient in Valley City, North Dakota. Use APA referencing style.

Organizational Leadership Roles. Research and summarize senior management’s role in successful quality improvement programs. Be sure to use real, researched examples to demonstrate your points. The Baldrige Award site list of recipients could be a good resource for examples. In general, identify senior management’s specific role in these large-scale strategic quality programs? Cheerleader? Role model? Decision maker? Resource provider? What else? Why must firms adopt the identified roles? What is the risk of not using the roles? Indicate how senior and middle management should derive the metrics to use to monitor and communicate performance?

Evaluating Community Assessment. Using a variety of instruments (Windshield Survey, Community Assessment Tool, Screening interviews, etc.) while in your community, you will assess the community location. This will lead to a list of identified, prioritized health needs and your recommendations for intervention. You will complete a windshield survey of your community. The objective of a windshield survey is to assess a community in a short, simple way, compiling data to help form an analysis of that community. Simply put, a windshield survey is the equivalent of a community head-to-toe assessment. There are 6 elements that should be included in your windshield survey (See Community Assessment Template Download Community Assessment Template). You will drive through your community and document your findings on a PowerPoint presentation.

Evaluating Community Assessment

Take pictures of your community to enhance your PowerPoint presentation. Evaluating Community Assessment. After studying Module 3: Lecture Materials & Resources, familiarize yourself with the instruments for: A Windshield Survey (Website Resource 15C, p. 425). The Community Assessment Tool applied to Phenomenological Communities (Website Resource 15A, p. 425). You may also wish to review Chapter 13, Box 13-1 (p. 343) for examples of assessments that may be appropriate for your community population, since the Community Assessment Tool includes some screening data and information from clients.

Evaluating Community Assessment. Plan how you will obtain the information for the assessments. Conduct a Windshield Survey assessment. Drive around your community and take pictures. Create a PowerPoint presentation No more than 10 slides addressing each area of the windshield study. The presentation is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and misspelling. Incorporate a minimum of 3 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work. Journal articles and books should be referenced according to APA style (the library has a copy of the APA Manual).
