You are free to choose a journal article on a topic of your choosing that also relates to health issues among the older population.  will be responsible for the following:

1-Selecting and carefully reading a recent (2015 to current) article on a topic of their interest.  This needs to be downloaded as a pdf article and uploaded with the assignment to the assignment dropbox.

2-Condensing the key points of the article into a 2-page summary in their own words (using APA formatting). This must be done using full sentences and paragraphs. Bulleted lists are not acceptable for this assignment.

3-The student must then type a 1-2 page paper in which they describe why this topic is important and what they found interesting about the reviewed article.

Non-Traditional College Students. Some educational critics believe that non-traditional college students (students who are older than the general student population, who are financially independent, and who deferred enrollment after high school) are more likely to succeed than traditional college students (students who are 18-21 years old, who are financially dependent on their families, and who go straight from high school to college). These critics believe that younger students are too immature and too unmotivated to achieve as older students do. Do you agree with this? Argue for or against this idea using your own personal experience as support. Use APA referencing style.

Financial Options – Lease /Purchase

FIN 320 Project Two Financial Assumptions

When a business needs to invest, it’s important to look at financial options. This is true for simple purchases, such as a new piece of equipment. And it is true for complex purchases, such as a new business. Business leaders must estimate cash flows from an investment and use the net present value (NPV) method to figure out if the investment is worthwhile.

Financial Option 1:

Financial Options – Lease /Purchase. Purchase a $10 Million Building Rationale for investment: The business is considering environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) factors as part of its investment in a new building for its headquarters. The building itself will be a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified building. However, the new site currently has a large, inactive gas station that sold both gasoline and diesel fuel. The new site also has a large repair facility that was used for deliveries and tractor-trailer trucks for more than 50 years. Some restoration was performed on the site, but the previous owner ran out of funds before they could bring the site up to LEED standards. Four large fuel tanks remain on the site, and they will also need to be addressed per LEED standards. Assumptions to consider:

  • $10 million cash purchase
  • Building generates additional net profits after tax of $1.25 million per year
  • 20 year expected useful life of building
  • Salvage value: $1.5 million
  • Discount rate is 10%                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Financial Options - Lease /Purchase                                                                                                                                                                                          Financial Option 2:

Financial Options – Lease /Purchase. Lease of $25 Million in Equipment Rationale for investment: The business’s current equipment is efficient, but it uses a lot of electricity. The production line also creates significant waste material, including waste plastics. The business is looking into leasing newer, more environmentally friendly equipment that will still allow it to be at least as efficient in production as it is now.

Assumptions to consider:

  • Annual cash flows generated with equipment: $4 million
  • Discount rate is 12%
  • 15-year useful life
  • No salvage value

Financial Option 3:

$30 Million Investment in Bonds Rationale for investment: The business is offering these bonds for sale contracts with another business in China to assemble computer parts. The Chinese business has used child labor in the past, but it claims it has stopped this practice. However, the U.S. business selling these bonds has not investigated to verify whether these claims are true. Use APA referencing style. 2 Assumptions to consider:

  • 10-year bond
  • 8% coupon
  • Priced at a discount: $95
  • Discount rate is 9%

Role of Congress in Governance

Please make sure to write a well-considered response of at least 200 words Remember, you do not have to agree with the political views presented, only respectfully respond to them.

Watch this video: https://youtu.be/FrqVBclJVco

If you’ve taken Texas Government with me, you know about Barbara Jordan. Jordan blazed trails as the first African-American since Reconstruction to hold office in the Texas state senate and the first African-American woman ever to hold that position. She then went to Washington D.C. in 1973, after winning a landslide election, to become the first black woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House.  While in Congress, she sat on the Judiciary Committee, where she gave the opening speech during the Committee’s hearing to impeach Richard Nixon. Her speech is considered to be one of the greatest political speeches ever made.

Role of Congress in Governance

Role of Congress in Governance

Now watch her history-making speech. After you watch, respond to what you heard. You may consider these questions: What checks-and-balances does she mention? What does she think about the role of Congress regarding impeachment? What is her reasoning for Congress bringing forth these articles and what is the “standard” she uses? How does she explain the “nature of impeachment” and its role in balancing the government?

If the link above is not working, another video is here: https://youtu.be/FrqVBclJVco

Role of Congress in Governance. Please remember that impeachment is not the same thing as removal. A person can be impeached and still serve in office without being removed. Impeachment is the “list of charges” made by the House. The trial and vote for removal would then take place in the Senate. Nixon was never removed because he resigned before any votes were made in the Senate. Please remember that impeachment is not the same thing as removal.
